Admissions – Early Childhood

Thank you for your interest in the Waldorf School of Philadelphia, a warm, safe, nurturing environment where young children thrive. Where children as young as two learn how to cut fruit for sharing and roll dough for baking fresh bread and where the day breathes with a natural rhythm, nurturing each child with folk tales, puppetry, and community.

We are grateful for your interest and welcome your application for the 2018-2019 school year. To inquire about mid-year enrollment, please contact Maggie Davis at or by calling 215-248-1662

Admissions Process: Mixed-Age Early Childhood and Nursery Program

  1. We invite you to inquire or start the application process using the form below.
  2. Please take a tour. For information about dates and how to register, please visit the Admissions Events page on our website.
  3. To apply, please complete your application, including a $65 non-refundable application fee, teacher reference form, school transcripts, and a recent photograph of your child.
  4. Upon receiving your completed application, you and your child will be invited to attend a short admissions interview that takes the form of a play-date.

It is beneficial to apply for enrollment as early as possible so that admissions play-dates can be easily scheduled. Space is limited, particularly in the nursery. We always continue to accept applications on a rolling basis until our classes are full. If a wait-pool is established, we will consider students from the pool who contribute to balanced classrooms. If you are interested in mid-year enrollment for your child, please contact Maggie Davis in the Admissions Office at

Early Childhood Admissions Play-Dates

We would like to get to know you and your child and to allow your child the experience of a Waldorf classroom.  Children being considered for the mixed-age early childhood program are invited for a 45-minute play-date in a Waldorf classroom taught by our trained Waldorf early childhood teachers. The play-date allows our teachers to interact with your child in a group setting and the visit includes circle time and free play. While the children are in the classroom, all parents will meet for a group presentation and discussion with the Director of Enrollment and the Faculty Chair.

Nursery Admissions Visits

You and your child will be invited for a 45-minute visit to the Waldorf nursery classroom. There you will meet with our trained Waldorf early childhood teachers while our teachers observe your child in a group setting.
