The Annual Fund at the Waldorf School of Philadelphia requires an extraordinary effort from the whole community. Like other independent schools, this yearly effort is our primary means of bridging the gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating a child. Although there are other opportunities to give throughout the year, the Annual Fund is when we ask everyone to give.

Parents, members of the Board of Trustees, staff, and teachers are all invited to participate. Grandparents, alumni families, Waldorf graduates, and community partners are also invited. The Annual Fund impacts everyone and everything on campus and your gift, regardless of size, demonstrates your commitment to our school.

Collective giving is powerful and every gift makes a difference. Reaching 100% participation is important because the higher the participation rate, the more likely we will receive other donations and grants.

A concerted fundraising effort is made in December and our goal is to have 100% participation amongst current families, the Board of Trustees, staff and teachers by December 31st. We will continue to fundraise for the duration of our fiscal year. Does tuition cover all costs to operate the School? Like other independent schools, our financial model is structured as a combination of tuition revenue and fundraising. Tuition and fees cover about 95% of our annual operating expenses and fundraising makes up the difference.

Our school has several revenue streams designed to help meet the financial needs of the school and minimize the need for tuition increases, thereby making Waldorf Education accessible to as many families as possible. As we continue to build our school’s capacities we know that rising operating costs will always require additional resources. Like other independent schools, we use an annual philanthropic appeal to help make up the difference between income and expenditures. Charitable giving allows our entire community to share the responsibility for supporting our school and unlike tuition, donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

We hope that you will make a gift that is meaningful for you and your family. Each year we receive gifts ranging from under $100 to over $10,000. Each and every gift is valued and contributes equally toward the goal of 100% participation.

When we say your gift, regardless of size, has a tremendous impact, we mean it. Every gift makes a difference. Your participation expresses support and confidence in our school and is an important factor when we seek donations from foundations and community partners.

Yes. A pledge is a commitment to make a financial gift within a specified time. You can pledge now and make a gift by the end of the fiscal year, June 30th. You can also break your gift into monthly installments.

Ask your employer to see if they will match your gift. Matching gifts are impactful and can double or triple your personal contribution.
