Annual Giving

Why the Annual Fund is Essential

Tuition alone only covers about 85% of the expenses at an independent school like The Waldorf School of Philadelphia. Generous donations to our Annual Fund are very important to build a bridge between our income and expenses that allow our school community to thrive.

The funds raised through your annual giving are invested right back into our school community in many ways:

  • Professional development opportunities
  • Academic and enrichment initiatives
  • Teacher salaries and continuing education opportunities
  • Financial aid and more

Each year 100% of our Annual Fund support allows The Waldorf School of Philadelphia to thrive in our pursuit of education and care for the whole student.

About 8% of our operating budget goes to the Annual Fund to provide for:

  • Faculty and staff salaries
  • Faculty and staff professional development
  • Tuition assistance and scholarships
  • Athletics and extracurricular activities
  • Strategic goals and initiatives
  • Facility operations

Our Goal of Fiscal Sustainability

Each year our school’s goal is for 100% participation from our entire school community with gifts to our Annual Fund. We encourage our parents and families, staff, faculty, grandparents, alumni, alumni parents and other supporters in our community to consider making a meaningful gift so that we can continue providing the best curriculum, materials, and training to ensure an incredible Waldorf Education and experience for the whole child.

Why is it important for all members of our school community – 100% participation – to give?

Most independent or private schools, especially those that are non-profits, seek to create a sustainable future for their school community. At The Waldorf School of Philadelphia we see the goal of fiscal sustainability as a priority and attempt to truly diversify our funding streams as much as possible.

When our community gives at or close to 100% — that means all families of students in our school make a donation of any amount – we are at our strongest. It says to other potential funders that we’re a force to be reckoned with and encourages them to invest and contribute as well.

Help Our Community Thrive

Contribute to the Annual Fund for 2015-2016

We think of our fundraising in the same way that we seek to educate our students – through a lens that takes into account the whole community and the full-circle of possibilities for development.

To this end, we offer many ways to engage and support our annual fund. This includes monthly donations, community fundraising events like the Ode to Joy Ride, Holiday Fair, and Silent Auction and other ways to give, including our retail fundraising relationships with eScrip, and Target – great ways to help you raise money for our school every time you shop.

Please consider committing to a manageable monthly gift of $5, $10, $20/month or more!

Tax-deductible contributions can be made securely and easily via Pay Pal:
