The Ode to Joy Ride is the Waldorf School of Philadelphia's tribute to our friend Lewis duPont Smith. A lover of the arts, Lewis had a special love for Schiller's poem, Ode to Joy, which also comprises the final movement in Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. A true renaissance man, he was a passionate student of history, art, music, literature, and philosophy. A teacher, political organizer, and philanthropist, Lewis sat on the boards of Vox Ama Deus and the Waldorf School of Philadelphia. We gather each year to reflect Lewis' loving spirit in this important community fundraiser. Thank you to the Smith Family, all of our volunteers, riders, and our generous sponsors.
