Summergarten Camp

Spark a Summer of Imagination

June 23 - August 8, 2014*
Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3 pm

Summergarten models the gentle rhythm of Waldorf Kindergarten that so lovingly nourishes the child's developing coordination, cooperation and creativity. Each week offers a theme that explores nature or one of the four elements.

Your children will enjoy days filled with singing, stories, handmade crafts and collecting forest treasures – with plenty of time to play, create and dream in our lovely, 38-acre green campus.

Each day includes a healthy, organic snack, educational activities, free play and wholesome summer fun for children ages 3 to 6. (Campers must be 3 years of age by June 1st.)

Weekly Themes

Through story and song we will "take flight" with our winged friends. Campers will sew felt birds and wet felt eggs to create a mossy nest.
Campers will discover the beauty in nature as they explore plants, colors and textures that abound in the natural world. They will create unique art projects using nature as their artistic inspiration.
Over the week we will build a tent or two out of branches and cloth to create a "campsite" complete with campfire and s'mores. Games, crafts and stories around the campfire will complete our camping adventures.
Campers will delight in stories and songs about the sea and the creatures that inhabit it. We will have a treasure hunt and make mermaid or pirate pouches to hold their treasure.
Through the week campers will turn wool into yarn. They will experience the magic of creation from the cleaning and carding of the wool to dying and spinning it into yarn. They will also make golden treasure boxes to hold their precious wool and yarn.
The magic of medieval times is brought to life in this week. Days are filled with stories, songs and games about mythical unicorns and dragons. Campers will make magic wands to help make their wishes come true.
Fairy doors and pools, gnome homes and elf circles will be discovered as we explore the world of the nature spirits. Campers will make fairy necklaces and will complete this week with a picnic with our forest friends.
