Spark a Summer of Imagination

Summergarten models the gentle rhythm of Waldorf Kindergarten that so lovingly nourishes the child's developing coordination, cooperation and creativity. Each week offers a theme that explores nature or one of the four elements.

Your children will enjoy days filled with singing, stories, handmade crafts and collecting forest treasures – with plenty of time to play, create and dream in our beautiful new campus at 6000 Wayne Avenue that some are calling  Philadelphia's "Hogwarts".

Each day includes a healthy, organic snack and lunch, educational activities, free play and wholesome summer fun. Campers must be 3 years of age by June 1st.

New for Summer 2015! Nursery Summergarten for children ages 18 months to 3 years of age. See below for enrollment details.

Weekly Themes

In celebration of the summer solstice, campers will explore all things sunny. We will build a bonfire, play with light and darkness, follow our shadows, and, with the help of the sun, campers will make beautiful scarves with solar paints.

Campers will hear stories about Pico, the Gnome. Through song and movement we will explore the life of gnomes. Campers will gather sticks, stones, grass and other things from nature to build a home for a gnome. Campers will also make a dear little gnome to live in the home.

This week we will focus on the work and joy of the farm. Through song, story and movement we will explore the work of the farm and the life of the farm animals. Campers will sew a farm animal finger puppet.

Campers will delight in stories and songs about the sea and the creatures that inhabit it. We will have a treasure hunt and make mermaid or pirate pouches to hold their treasure.

Campers will focus on the fun of fishing! We will tell "fish tales" and sing sailing songs. Campers will enjoy building fishing boats, making fishing poles and wet-felting their very own fish to catch.

Through story, song and movement, campers will experience the magic and beauty of the butterfly. They will create their very own butter fly wings using plant-dyed fabric which they will dye and sew themselves. F
