Indigo Nature Camps

Indigo Nature Art's meets it's 9th year at the start of a new decade! This summer Indigo Nature Arts is offering camps within the beautiful historic setting at the Waldorf School of Philadelphia. Camps offerings include the yearly Sassafras Camp for kids 6-12-years-old, the welcomed return of the Magical World of Faeries and Gnomes, and our Music Jam Camp with Raji Malik.

Sassafras Camp
For children 6-11 years old

Indigo Nature Arts Sassafras Camp is a nature based day-camp that will be held at our new camp home location on the campus of The Waldorf School of Philadelphia in Germantown. The landscape offers several ideal play-scapes, a climbing wall, an obstacle course, "real" woods for daily hiking and other fun exploratory space.

We create a community environment where the children enjoy simple, yet memorable adventures. Child-led play, minute-morning-mediation, handwork, imaginative nature-based art projects, sports, painting, stage for performance, indoor air conditioned space during inclement weather, drawing and natural science weave together an experiential program for children 6 to 11 years old. Parents will also be pleased with the ease of drop-off and pick-up.

Attentive and loving camp teachers and assistants, as well as our super CIT's-counselors-in-training (who have been attending camp since they were five-years-old, now 13!), help make the camp experience the best it can be.

Dates/Times:
June 15-19, June 22-26, June 29-July 3
9:00 a.m. - 3.00 p.m.

Cost:
$285 per week

Indigo's Culinary Kids
For children 7-11 years old

Culinary Kids offers a fun, hands-on week of wholesome food exploration and appetizing discoveries. Summer sorbets, seasonal garden greens, delicious dressings and tasty tortillas, are just a few things on the menu. Cooking is more than quality ingredients. Kid’s will also gain table etiquette skills and take part in the art of floral arranging and festive table setting.  Kid's will take home their illustrated recipe books, aprons and chef hats, and their flower arrangements, along with a delightful curiosity for cooking. In addition to the fancy, we look into the use of glass verses plastics, organic verses non-organic and the gifts of planting a small garden. All vegetarian menu. Non-gluten products will be used for those with gluten sensitivities. Dairy will be used sparingly. Please include all allergy information on the health form. Kid's attending must have a "foodie" enthusiasm! Questions as to if it's right for your child, please email Kim, at indigonaturearts@gmail.com.

The Magical World of Faeries and Gnomes
For children 6-10 years-old

The Magical World of Gnomes and Faerie folk will enchant children 5 to 10 years-old for an entire week! Children become architects building and constructing faerie houses and miniature furniture. We will delve into the world of healing plants and herbs and learn how the plant world is here to help us. Hiking the nearby trails will inspire our woodland investigations. The week concludes with an enchanting faerie and gnome Friday celebration as we decorate and embellish charming crowns and laurels. Faerie camp allows time for child-led play, faerie crafts, dress-up, impromptu plays, finger knitting and time to daydream. Healthy, daily snack is provided.

Dates/Times:
August 3-7
9:00 a.m. - 3.00 p.m.

Cost:
$330 per week

The Music Jam Camp
For children 7-12 years-old

Raji Malik is a lifelong musician and composer, and an Early Childhood Educator at Abington Friend's School. He's been inspiring kids at Indigo's camp for the past 4 years. We are thrilled to have him return.

Music experience is not necessary! We are all musical, whether through movement, voice or playing an instrument. Kids are invited to bring their instruments (we also provide some!) and imagination for a fun week in the historic Germantown area. Whether your child likes to play drums, sing, or shake an egg, all are invited. Song writing and composing, hiking and free time to explore the playscapes, will satisfy a week of musical pleasure - with an end of the week performance! Raji will lead the camp community through this experimental, orchestral adventure!

Dates/Times:
August 3-7
9:00 a.m. - 3.00 p.m.

Cost:
$330 per week
