Shakespeare Theater and Acting Camp
with Philadelphia Shakespeare Theater
9-14 year-olds

(Canceled for the Summer of 2020)

Instructed by professional teaching artists of the Philadelphia Shakespeare Theater, students will have the rare opportunity to take the page to the stage. This two-week camp provides an immersive theater experience that includes casting, costuming, stage combat, directing, set design, and more. The workshop will culminate in an abridged Shakespeare comedy performance for family and friends. Space is limited to provide excellence.

Woodworking Camp
9-14 year-olds

Let imaginations run loose and experience the satisfaction of creating something beautiful, useful, and fun to make.

Summer woodworking with master woodworker, Mario Rodriguez, offers an immersive experience of being challenged to acquire new woodworking skills, while making several cool new projects. Experience is not necessary, only a desire to build. Campers have opportunities to craft a walking stick, build a camp stool, bird feeder, paddle boat, or a table-top catapult.

Mario Rodriguez is the woodworking teacher at the Waldorf School of Philadelphia. He has taught the art of woodworking to children and adults for over 30 years and has many published articles about the craft as well as two books - Traditional Woodworking and Building Fireplace Mantels, published by Taunton Press.

All tools and materials are provided.

July 20-24 and July 27-July 31st
Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Cost:

Fashion Design and Sew Camp
with Nicole Nicola Rodriguez
8-14 year-olds

Start with a sketch, develop a pattern, and create an original design. This camp is for aspiring fashion designers and kids who want to learn how to sew. Beginners to young advanced students will learn something new and surprise themselves in what they are able to make. Both hand sewing and machine sewing skills will be practiced, as well as hand dyeing, embroidery and other techniques, all developing into something unique and beautiful.

Nicole Nicola Rodriguez is an artist, crafts person and handwork teacher. She has worked at the Waldorf School of Philadelphia for twenty years and has taught and inspired hundreds of children how to knit, sew, crochet, make natural dyes from plants, and beyond. The expertise and passion she shares demonstrates her love for creating. Students will gain a foundation in design and learn valuable techniques they can use for years to come.

About our Campus

The Waldorf School of Philadelphia's historic campus offers a beautiful landscape that includes several ideal play-scapes, a climbing wall, bespoke hillside slide, birds nest swing, an obstacle course, woodland space for hiking and other fun exploratory natural outdoor spaces. Indoors there are plenty of naturally lit, air-conditioned spaces that includes a stage for performances. Parents will also be pleased with the ease of drop-off and pick-up.
