Janine has been an educator for 30+ years. Before coming to the Waldorf School of Philadelphia, she taught at Kimberton Waldorf School in Phoenixville, PA. Janine came to Waldorf education while seeking school for her youngest son, who was moving back from England with her. She was attracted to the holistic, whole-child, arts based approach of the Waldorf curriculum.

Janine has previously taught at Eastern University in St. Davids, Pa., The University of Wolverhampton, UK, and has been an adjunct professor at area universities in their Faculty of Arts. Janine is a published author and researcher, having written book chapters and papers in the dance medicine and science field. Her specialty is aging and range of motion, and she teaches anatomy/kinesiology, biomechanics, and wellness courses for students in the US and abroad.

Helping students become better writers is a passion of Janine's and she enjoys inspiring the middle school age learner to delve into writing as a craft. She always says, 'there's a writer in you - you just don't know it yet"! Visitors will often find word games or 'the riddle of the day' on her classroom chalkboard.

Creating safe spaces for learning is important to Janine and she is always striving to work harder to grow and learn to continue to foster equity and inclusion in her classroom.

Janine is an avid hiker, loves to kayak, spend time outdoors, is a former equestrian, and loves animals. Janine lives in Old City with her partner, Matt, their two cats, Malena and Lucia, and their dog, Cailin.
