Philly Waldorf: Where Your Work Has Meaning
Our People
We are a diverse, energetic community with a strong commitment to understanding each student's needs. Our love, reverence, and respect for childhood are reflected in our collegial community of teachers, a diverse mix of seasoned professionals and those who are relatively new to teaching in a Waldorf setting. A magnet for creative, community-minded people, we seek to foster and support thoughtful, socially conscious, and engaged adults. We are dedicated to increasing and supporting diversity in employment and our programs by hiring candidates underrepresented in Waldorf education.
Our Commitment to Employees
Our school offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance. We invest in our employees by prioritizing professional development and providing regular mentorship opportunities. We value innovation, initiative, collaboration, humor, and a collegial spirit. Our school is committed to the continuous development, evaluation, accountability, and transparency of DEIJ efforts and dedicated to demonstrating leadership in this realm at every opportunity. We strive to be a welcoming environment in which each person respects diverse perspectives, recognizes implicit bias, and removes barriers to participation for all.
Our Campus
The Waldorf School of Philadelphia’s award-winning campus is located in Germantown's diverse neighborhood at 6000 Wayne Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19144. Designed and built by Frank Furness and George Hewitt in 1873, it is simply enchanting.
Our City
Philadelphia is one of the largest, most diverse, and most exciting cities in the United States. Widely considered one of the most livable cities in the world, Philadelphia is known for its balance of work and play. A collection of diverse neighborhoods, each with its own unique identity, Philadelphia has a strong history and deeply rooted identity. Historic Germantown, Chestnut Hill, Fairmount, Fishtown, West Philadelphia, and Society Hill are just a few of the neighborhoods where Philly Waldorf families live.
In recent years, the city has seen a major expansion of commercial and residential areas. With a resurgence in the makers' industries, innovations in green architecture, farm-to-table, and an explosion of small businesses, Philadelphia offers a diverse, accessible, and sustainable lifestyle. It’s no wonder the city is attracting a growing number of families from areas like Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Portland. As a school community, we are perfectly at home in this thriving metropolitan setting.
Accreditation
The Waldorf School of Philadelphia is a full member of AWSNA, the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America, and WECAN, the Waldorf Association of Early Childhood in North America. We are also accredited by the Middle States Association and a member of ADVIS, the Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools.
The Waldorf School of Philadelphia is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in its student body, faculty, and staff. The school does not discriminate based on race, color, sex, language, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, creed, national or ethnic origin, citizenship status, age, disability, veteran status, language, or any other legally protected class status. It is essential that candidates demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to diversity and multiculturalism in education.
