Our celebrations include everyone.
The Waldorf School of Philadelphia celebrates and honors an array of multicultural traditions through festivals and events. Many of our traditions are tied to seasons. The start of school brings our Rose Ceremony, which marks the beginning of a special year-long journey for both our first and eighth graders. Autumn and the coming of shorter days usher in harvest and light festivals such as Michaelmas, our Lantern Walk, the Garden of Light celebration, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot. Winter brings us together for cultural traditions such as Diwali, Kwanzaa, and Christmas, plus our Holiday Fair & Craft Bazaar, which celebrates new year and new beginning celebrations. In this season, we also honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the Gregorian Calendar New Year, and Lunar New Year. Springtime brings hope and a flurry of activity with our Annual Benefit, the May Fair, Field Day, and the Fifth Grade Greek Pentathlon. These events, and many more, connect us to our local community and one another while nurturing mind, body, and spirit.
