Abby Corr
Movement Teacher
BFA, Dance, Hartt School, The University of Hartford, emphasis in Ballet Pedagogy
Abby (she/her) spent her childhood in Easton, PA and began attending dance
classes at the age of five years old; this is where she first found her love of dance and movement. For high school, Abby auditioned and was accepted as a dance major to the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts in Bethlehem, PA.
Along with having the opportunity to train and perform throughout her college education, Abby took part in teaching internships, where she first experienced creating and teaching movement-based curriculum. Since graduating from college, Abby has been fortunate to teach in many different settings in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, including ballet schools, dance studios (competition and recreational), outreach programs, schools (Grades K through Twelve), and more.
Abby currently teaches Movement in Grades One through Eight and feels fortunate to share the joy of movement with her students. In addition, she also teaches ballet at two dance studios and performs with a Philadelphia-based contemporary dance company. Abby believes that having the opportunity to study dance and the freedom to communicate through movement can give a student many skills in addition to the ability to dance; it offers an individual a sense of creativity, imagination, discipline, problem-solving, structure, and fitness, along with a positive relationship to their physical body and a connection to their mind. Abby prioritizes creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for her students so that they feel the freedom to express themselves through movement.
