Nick Myarick
Games Teacher
BA, History, George Mason University
After college, Nick decided to pursue a career in education. He joined City Year, an Americorps program, and worked at a public school in Washington, D.C. After completing the program, he decided to move back home to Philadelphia and began teaching at Camden Prep, a charter school in Camden, NJ, where he became a full-time Gym Teacher after joining the school in a support role. Nick
worked at Camden Prep for five years, teaching Gym for Grades K through Eight.
While working in the charter school world, Nick began to read about the Waldorf approach to education. He was drawn to the nurturing environment of the Waldorf school and the Waldorf mission of developing the whole child. In the Winter of 2022, Nick began teaching Games Class to Grades One through Eight at the Waldorf School of Philadelphia.
In Games Class, Nick creates scenarios that challenge students, teaching them to respond positively to trials and support others as they navigate obstacles. He also seeks to make Games class accessible to everyone, so that all students feel confident that they can succeed if they apply themselves. He has been thrilled to teach activities where all students can have fun together and feel challenged. Nick hopes these lessons will do more than just provide a fun time for students, but also help them to develop life skills that will serve them long after their days at Philly Waldorf.
